Next Cycling Coaching session at Curborough Race Track 17th February (1000hrs)

Attention all MVH Cyclists  (all cycling abilities welcome)

The second cycling coaching session is to be held at 1000hrs at Curborough cycling race track on Sunday 17th February

Don’t miss the opportunity to ride the Curborough Cycling Race Track (signposted 1 mile from Fradley Park Junction, WS13 8EJ).

The first cycle coaching session was a huge success with the first hour  seeing two groups focussing on cycling technique and the second hour on track time.  The track is great fun to cycle around and has a series of fast corners, a classic hairpin corner and succeeds in raising the heart rate somewhat!

Session 2 will focus on group cycling techniques and a second hour on track cycling training.

(The coaching session will focus on group cycling)

Hour 2:  Track time – Steve Herriman will organise a session around the track.
(The focus will be on interval work and higher speed bike handling for ‘intermediate’ cyclists and for a ‘bit of fun’)

A guaranteed great experience and all are welcome.  Whether this is the first time you have cycled in a group or you are a regular on MVH sunday cycle rides – this Sunday morning session will be highly enjoyable and informative.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Enter a wild swimming event for 2013?

As the concept of wild swimming becomes more popular, open water swim events are increasingly gaining traction.

A short season for open water swimming, the months of June, July and August are starting to provide some great choices for those who would like to participate in a larger scale “organised swim event”

5 of the biggest swims are supported and sponsored by Brtitish Gas:  while encouraging participants to raise money for charity while enjoying the organised swim.

These are:

Or join an open water swim that will provide such an experience that the script will be written for future story telling

Often organised by charities as a new initiative to build much needed funds.  One such charity is ASPIRE who support people with spinal injuries.

Swim to the Isle of Wight?  Approaching 3 miles.  Now this is more like it!

“Fully escorted by RIBs and kayaks, you will be brought back by boat to celebrate your achievements in a local pub. The Solent represents a great open water challenge.”

and there are many other “wild swims” out there on the internet.

A wild swimming website worth grabbing a “cuppa of builders’ and settling down for a good read is wild swimming.co.uk

So as the sun starts to warm things up …  It’s time to think about Summer Swimming

Enjoy!!

Swimming At Abbotts Bromley every Thursday 7.30pm

The second coached swimming session of the week is on a Thursday at 7.30pm at Abbotts Bromley School.

A 6 lane – 23m pool – that rewards you with thinking you are swimming faster lengths.  (Nothing to do with fact that pool length is 2 metres shorter!)

Following the success of last year, MVH together with Burntwood Tri Club have booked the Abbotts Bromley school swimming pool for the winter 2013 season.

A superb session, the coached session complements the Saturday swim session, following a similar programme.  With a mix of MVH and Burntwood coaches.

At least two swim sessions a week does make a difference to the development of technique and in the supporting swim conditioning and endurance.

Directions to the venue – are on the swim venues page.

See you Thursday…
