Two Cycle Rides from Barton Marina on Sundays

Starting from Sunday 18th November, we are introducing two cycle rides from Barton Marina.

Both cycle rides will commence at 0900 hours from Barton Waterfront.

Cycle ride 1:  This is the shorter cycle ride and will be at a pace that reflects the ability and experience of the cyclists on this ride.  This cycle ride is targeted at those looking for a shorter cycle training session (typically 2 hours or less), those new to triathlon cycling or new to road cycling in a group or for those returning after an injury or period away from cycling.

Prior to commencing the cycle ride, the leader of the cycle 1 group will always discuss and confirm objectives for the cycle ride with the group.  The aim of the cycle ride is to ensure that all have an enjoyable experience while training.  This may mean on occasion a slower pace or a shorter distance.  Cycle ride 1 will always be customised to the abilities of the group.

——–

Cycle ride 2:  This can be a longer cycle ride (2.5 to 3hrs) but not always.  This cycle ride is designed specifically for  triathletes who would categorise themeselves as experienced novices, or intermediate or seasoned triathletes.  This cycle ride will follow the MVH annual Periodisation training timetable.  Conditioning, strength endurance, speed endurance, maintenance & build.  The objective of this cycle ride is to support cycling performance improvement very much with an eye on the forthcoming race season.  The MVH coaching team will set objectives for cycle ride 2 for the relevent periodisation period and the role of the lead cyclist in cycle ride 2 is to determine the route, set the pace and any challenges within the cycle ride to meet the periodisation objectives.

Prior to commencing the cycle ride, the leader of cycle ride 2 will share the objectives with the group.  During the cycle ride the intent is to ensure the group can cycle as a single peleton group, each taking turns at the lead position.  The pace of cycle 2 group will endeavour to meet the ability within the group.  The intent is not to drop cyclists off the back but to ensure that all enjoy the appropriate training for the periodisation period.

Happy cycling for all.  Bring it on!!
