MERCIA Cycling Club – 100km/50km Reliability Ride – this Sunday 24th Feb

This Sunday sees the Mercia CC reliability trial departing from Shobnall Sports & Social Club, opposite Marston Brewery, Shobnall Rd. Burton DE14 2BB

Always a really good cycle ride – with some fast riders included.  But also usually a group riding at a pace that suits own abilities.

Two distance options 50km and 100km.  (Mick Skivington doing the 100km)

You sign on and pay your £2 on the Sunday morning.  £2 provides you with a map, and a hot drink and a cake when you get back!

The 100km will start at 1000hrs

The 50km at 1030hrs

It’s spring – so it is the time for a 400m + 5km run.  (And a variety of distances for the Juniors).

Adult :  Swim -400m : Run 5.0km

Tristar start 8    Swim 50m ; Run 600m

Tristar 1  (9 –10)  Swim  150m; Run  1.5km

Tristar 2  (11 – 12) Swim  250m ; Run 2.0km

Tristar 3  (13 – 14) Swim 400m : Run 3.0km

Youth  (15 – 16)  Swim 400m  ; Run 5.0km

Costs

Adults – £15.00 OR £ 8.00 (£12 adult or £7 U16 BTF )

Pirelli Stadium start for NEW National Forest Sportif – Sunday 1st September!!

New for 2013 is the National Forest and Beyond sportive.

Based at the newly built Pirelli Stadium, home of Burton Albion FC, the routes take in the quiet lanes of the west side of the National Forest and beyond to east Staffordshire.

Choose from 94, 76 and 58 mile routes, with over 5000ft of climbing on the long route.

The routes are varied over rolling terrain, with a couple of sharp 13% climbs thrown in make sure you know where your gears are. View the routes below.

The long route has two feedstations, at 30 and 74 miles, the other routes have one.

Riders will receive the usual sports gels and bars at the start, the feedstations will be stocked with water, sports drink and a variety of sweet and savoury food.

Once arriving back at Burton Albion FC there are good shower and changing facilities.

Soup, sandwiches and tea and coffee are included in the entry fee. The bar will also be open (definitely not included in the entry fee!)
