MVH Members leap into the Thames!

At the end of July, two intrepid (quite silly) club members decided it was a good idea to swim 2.25 miles down the River Thames between Hampton Court Bridge and Kingston Bridge. It was just as well they swam the race before reading a government body’s report into last year’s race when one in three of  the participants became ill!!

I am please to say that both survived and obviously have a cast iron constitution as they suffered no ill effects. The share price in a certain carbonated beverage certainly went up after the swim.

Once again, a successful event organised by John Shelton Smith with good weather and a great atmosphere. Well done to this year’s winners Anna Jaques and Robin Barber and thanks to all for participating.

We have the full spreadsheet results data for the 6 events and a summary table for the final ranking. Paul Butler has contributed photos (below).

John’s comment: On a few occasions, times for the run were a second or two off due to recording names and times for simultaneous finishers.
