MVH member and British Triathlon Level 3 coach Brian Welsh is to provide a talk on Nutrition for MVH members.  Brian has extensive experience of taking part in endurance events and the importance of getting nutrition right – not just for long distance events but for training and shorter distances.

The talk is ensured to be informative, enjoyable and an insight into the science of nutrition.

Venue:  Shobnall Sports Centre:  Lecture room on left as enter the sports centre

Date:  Tuesday 8th October

Time:  7:30pm for 7:45 start  To finish about 9pm

Cost: £2 to cover the cost of the venue

Includes – Free Coffee and Tea and no charge for participating with your own questions!

(You could even also fit in a MVH club run, from Bannatynes at 6pm before you go along to Shobnall)

CV:  Brian Welsh is a British Triathlon Association level 3 coach & tutor. He has raced for Great Britain at age group level in triathlon.,  He was a member of the world record breaking round Australia bike team and completed more than 10  Ironman triathlons. He led the first UK mixed team to finish (and win the category) in the 3000 mile Race Across America in 2004. More recently he led another mixed team to first finishing in Letourdirect (the Tour de France – nonstop). Brian has now done 4 RAAM’s 2 x 4 person teams, 1 x mixed team with his wife Stacey in 2008 and solo in 2011. He is looking to go solo again in 2014.

Derby Sprint Triathlon – Sunday 15th September

Last race of season for some.  All about beating the rain… And for many warming cups of coffee and tea or squash served at the MVH Gazebo.

Always a popular event.  23 MVH-ers gathered to do the pool swim, left, left and left again cycle and the yugh run (for some, although many found it most refreshing) around a delightful railway setting.

All in all, encouraging some mighty impressive MVH performances.  The results are below.
