MVH News October 2016: Update on swim sessions and coaching team

Looking to improve your swim ahead of next years triathlon season?

Wanting a PB? Wanting to gain confidence to step-up the distance? Maybe considering open water for the first time next year?

MVH Head Coach, Dave Brayer, has been busy behind the scenes liaising with our current coaching team as well as recruiting support from expertise in our region.

The result is a refreshed format for Repton swims from 1st October and a hope to further utilise our coaching resources across the other disciplines as the new season base training begins in earnest.

Read on for news from the horses mouth……….

We are very happy and fortunate to be able to announce some additions to the current great MVH coaching team.

Martin Hurdman – Qualified ASA swim teacher and coach, previously Head Swim Coach at Swadlincote and Burton swimming clubs, has taken the plunge to help us out at the MVH Repton Swim sessions. Martin is a strong family man and has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to swimming and life skills.

Martin is very much looking forward to meeting the members and he will be heading up the MVH swim sessions on Saturday mornings. Martin will be supported by our keen and motivated coaching team.

In addition we are very fortunate to be able to have access to the services of Hilary Johnson level 3 Triathlon coach, Jason Jones level 2 Triathlon coach and Chris Keegan level 2 Triathlon coach who are looking forward to meeting all the members at the Repton swim sessions.

Hilary is also a British cycling coach and has a wealth of knowledge and experience across a number of sports. A family woman with two sons both elite triathletes – Tom Bishop and David Bishop.

Jason raced elite a few (may be a bit more than a few) years ago and has seen the twists and turns in the sport over the years, he is also a British cycling coach and a family man.

Chris Keegan has always been involved in sport from a young age and he is also a qualified swim teacher with a young family.

If I can request all members to give a big welcome to the coaches, as well as help make the sessions as positive and enjoyable as possible. We welcome all and any constructive and forward looking feedback, so please do speak with the coaching team or contact myself with any questions or queries you may have.

Many thanks

Dave Brayer
